Engage Releases New National Poll Showing Significant, Bipartisan Support for Paid Family Leave
New data shows voters view paid leave as economic infrastructure that supports families, businesses, and workforce participation
Washington, DC – Engage, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting women’s economic security, today released a new, national poll reinforcing broad, bipartisan agreement that American families want solutions to the economic strain caused by the lack of reasonable paid family leave and caregiving support.
The poll, which was conducted by KAConsulting, LLC is the first to measure public opinion on the More Paid Leave for More Americans Act, sponsored by Representatives Stephanie Bice (R-OK) and Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA), and found that a 76% supermajority of voters support the legislation. The bill would expand access to paid family leave through state-driven, innovative, and sustainable solutions. The legislation consists of two parts: the Paid Family Leave Public Partnerships Act and the Interstate Paid Leave Action Network Act (I-PLAN-ACT).
“Paid family leave and family caregiving are not partisan issues,” said Rachel Pearson, Founder and President of Engage. “They are a fact of life for countless American families juggling work and these responsibilities. The More Paid Leave for More Americans Act is an important step in helping alleviate and mitigate s many of these family’s challenges.”
“The polling proves it – the public supports paid family leave and specifically my legislation with Rep. Houlahan, the More Paid Leave for More Americans Act,” said Rep. Bice. “I want to thank Engage and Kellyanne Conway for their work in conducting this poll and spreading awareness on such a critical issue. Congress should focus on fiscally responsible pro family legislation, and this bill does just that.”
“This polling data confirms what we’ve known for a long time: Americans across the political spectrum support paid family and medical leave,” said Rep. Houlahan. “My IPLAN legislation builds on that consensus by offering practical, bipartisan solutions that strengthen state programs, benefit delivery, and bring key partners, including employers, to the table. I’m proud to work with my Working Group co-chair, Rep. Bice, to move this legislation to the President’s desk.”
Other key findings from the survey show:
- Eighty-three percent of voters say paid family leave is a concern for families across the United States, and 87% agree paid leave helps families care for aging or disabled relatives without forcing costly out-of-pocket care.
- A supermajority of respondents agreed the government has a role to play in paid family leave. Eighty percent agree the government should play a role in incentivizing reasonable paid leave policies, and 81% say it is important for the Trump Administration and Congress to work together to improve paid family leave.
- Seventy-two percent of respondents say they are more likely to support a candidate who backs paid family leave legislation, and 48% of voters rank paid family leave as a top or top-three personal concern.
- 69% agree the lack of paid leave harms businesses by reducing productivity and workforce participation.
This survey was conducted by KAConsulting, LLC and consisted of a nationwide mixed-mode survey of 1,007 registered voters. Interviews were conducted between December 30, 2025 and January 5, 2026. The survey examined voter attitudes, experiences, and policy preferences related to paid family leave and caregiving policy in the United States.
