Live Now: The Engage Reader Winter 2025

We’re excited to share the Winter 2025 edition of The Engage Reader at a time when there’s a clear hunger across America for common sense solutions to our most intractable problems. This issue highlights the amazing work of Senators Britt and Kaine leading on childcare legislation. As you may have seen on March 4, their legislation was introduced with new co-sponsors. The Child Care Availability & Affordability Act is now supported by Senators Ernst, Shaheen, Curtis, and King; while the Child Care Workforce Act has added Senators Shaheen and King as co-sponsors. Both bills continue to be led by Senators Britt and Kaine as the primary champions.

Also in this issue, you’ll read the story of Jacqueline De Jesu and her journey creating and defending her invention—a journey I recently discussed in Forbes noting that “Jackie is an inventor in the best American tradition, channeling her inner Ben Franklin, only to find herself a David among many Goliaths.”

We outline consequential tax policy discussions that must be made in 2025, a promising bipartisan “baby bonus” proposal authored by David Jimenez from the Niskanen Center, and feature Susan Neely’s insights on solving societal problems through partnership. Former Senate Chief of Staff Michelle Barlow Richardson shares wisdom from her 25 years building bridges on Capitol Hill.

The Engage Reader strives to be a dependable source of trustworthy information about public policy not born of the extremes. We invite you to explore it online or request a physical copy by emailing brendan@engagewomen.org.

Much more to come!
